A Slightly Epic Saturday

WELL, I don't really want a blog that much, but I decided to try it because I want to comment on other people's blogs, so yay!
...and since I don't know what to blog about I decided to talk about marching band, because seriously, when you're in it, how could this topic fail?

So yesterday. We had a competition, our first of the year, and we had a major problem: we didn't know the 4th movement. That's right we didn't know it, meaning we had barely just set the drill, we hadn't put music to it, and we hadn't even thought about cleaning it yet. Basically, our douchebag of a drill intructor (Dr.D as he were henceforth be reffered as) doesn't quite know what he's doing, so his solution: blame the band. Thanks ALOT Dr.D. After every one of our 7 (?) leaders, including our AWESOME drum major Zach, told him yes we do actually need to set a set before we march to it, and yes only one set at a time, refused and just said 'visualize your next set. lets march it, hup hup ready...' So yestery day, the day of our competition, he finally listened to us, cause, lets face it, he's stupid. So in an epic, really really really tough intense rehersal in the morning just hours before we compete, we learn the ENTIRE movement (which is a long one, by the way) and with music! Our band director was basically in shock that we pulled it off. And, not to be full of us, but, that show kicked ass. OH, did I mention that not only did they run us too hard, but too long? we def. had 30 min to get all our stuff ready, eat lunch, and get on the buses. (in fact our drumline (which always wins everything) kept practicing and had to eat on the bus)
And, OK, that's enough of my complaining, because, honeslty, I shouldn't be.

So we have a few hours of fun, despite the mean rain, before the awards ceremony. My friend's (Alex) girlfriend is the DM of the host band so our band (being the immature losers that we are<3) were obsessing over her (only me, Justine, and afew other people had known her before), and she's a really cool person. So that was fun too! :) We arrange ourselves in a giant 'E' for the awards ceremony on the vistor side stands, completely expecting to win nothing but drumline, because lets face it, we just finished learning the show that morning. And we proceed to win 2nd drumline (< ok we all know it should have been first), 2md pit, 2nd music! 2nd marching! aaaaaaaand 2nd over all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The euphoria was intense.

So all in all, the day was happy, and epic. :)
and for not especially wanting to blog, wow, that was long.

Happy Sunday!
